It’s hard to believe it’s already been a month since Retooling AEC, a gathering we hosted in New York to pause, reflect, and reimagine what this industry could become if we approached it just a little differently.
We brought together architects, designers, engineers, technologists, and creators across disciplines to talk, not just about tools, but about the soul of the work: who we’re building for, how we collaborate, and what needs to change for our practices to be more efficient, sustainable, and joyful.
That day also happened to be launch day for us at Arcol, so amidst the celebration and nerves, we were especially grateful to be surrounded by so many thoughtful, passionate folks. We live-streamed the entire event to make sure those outside NYC could tune in, and the energy from the room carried through the screen.
Here are just a few of the conversations that stayed with us:
On her journey navigating burnout to reimagining joy as an architect.
On shaping better systems by starting with real people, not just performance metrics.
On community, craft, and the joy of building with others.
On breaking silos and why the future of BIM has to be collaborative.
We'll be sharing more highlights over the coming weeks, including photos of our team, moments from the day, and new community experiments we’re dreaming up together. If you were there, thank you for showing up with heart. And if you weren’t, we hope you’ll join us for the next one.
